VSTI’s Information Dissemination Platform (IDP) is an alerting system that sends informational alerts to cell phones, pagers, PDAs, and computers via text message, email, and instant message.
Virtual communities can be created to achieve different levels of prioritized information dissemination.
How the IDP Works
Within the IDP resides a Device Ontology that stores information about the user’s communication devices. The Ontology has the intelligence to know how to send as much information as the device allows: if the device cannot receive a video, a text summary is sent. The IDP leverages existing cell phone and internet providers to send information to the users.
